The Erskine Players’ production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest last week was a team effort.

Directed by Professor of English Dr. Joan Little, the play featured 18 Erskine students as cast members, with 13 of that number also serving on the technical crew.

Little commented on the play, first performed in 1611, in her program notes.

“Placing a motley of characters on a strange island, Shakespeare allows the magician Prospero to create dramatic illusions that hold the mirror up to nature,” she wrote. “With the help of Providence, Prospero brings his enemies and friends into a charmed circle, where his art reflects the viewers’ true selves.”

Little said the cast and crew were a pleasure to work with and noted that a number of freshmen were involved in the production.
