Palecek receives ‘Women Extraordinaire’ award

Attorney Diana Palecek of Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP, a 1989 graduate of Erskine College, is a 2011 recipient of the Charlotte Business Leader’s “Women Extraordinaire” award.
The “Women Extraordinaire” award honors candidates who have demonstrated significant business achievement and community involvement. The Charlotte Business Leader recognizes 25 businesswomen and one lifetime achievement award winner each year.
Palecek was recognized for her professional legal experience and success in commercial real estate as well as her significant leadership and involvement in the Charlotte community.
A member of Smith Moore Leatherwood’s banking and finance and real estate development practice groups, her practice area focuses on commercial real estate transactions and commercial lending, including leasing, lending, and workouts and foreclosures.
She has served as a member of the Erskine Alumni Association Board, is a Fellow in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, is an active member of CREW Charlotte, Inc. where she serves as co-chair of the Communications Committee, and is involved in a variety of other civic service organizations.
Palecek, who is married to 1989 Erskine graduate Eric Moore, graduated magna cum laude with a degree in English. She is a 1992 graduate of Wake Forest University School of Law.
She was inducted into the Erskine College Academic Hall of Fame in 2010, and was also honored by her alma mater in 2004 when she received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award. In addition to her service on the Alumni Association Board at Erskine, she has served as co-chair of the Piedmont-Triad Chapter of the Erskine Alumni Association and on the Erskine Board of Counselors.
Palecek has also worked on the planning team at Covenant Fellowship Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, N.C., and has provided leadership for the Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center, Inc.
